Badal family biggest enemy of Sikhi, says SYA
WSN Network

DALLAS: Sikh Youth of America's Dallas unit has held Punjab Chief MInister Parkash Singh Badal and his political heir Sukhbir Singh Badal as directly responsible for the unfortunate incidents in Ludhiana and has warned the Sikhs against this father-son duo, calling them enemies of the Sikh quom.

The SYA held an mergent meeting through teleconference and said the self-styled babas and sadhs were being ensconsed delibretaely by the Badal family. The Badals were only nurturing their close ties with the BJP by creating space for Sirsa sadh and Ashutosh just as they had done for the Nirankaris in the past.

The SYA said the same Badal who told his police to fire upon the Sikh protesters took care to deal with the provocation by thousands of migrant labourers from Bihar with kid gloves lest he angers the Hindutva lobby.

SYA's Texas unit senior leaders Gurmel Singh Dhesi, Surinder Singh Gill, Santokh Singh Khalsa, Narinder Singh, Kashmir Singh, Dhian Singh, Hardeep Singh, Sahib Singh and Navdeep Singh issued a joint statement saying the Badal family has retained its anti-Sikh posture consistently and its friedship with late Lala Jagat Narain, tainted police officers like Sumedh Saini, communal Hindu leader Harish Bedi, Manoranjan Kalia, Luxmi Kanta Chawla and L K Advani was hardly a secret.

The Badals were only nurturing their close ties with the BJP by creating space for Sirsa sadh and Ashutosh just as they had done for the Nirankaris in the past.

The same Badal who told his police to fire upon the Sikh protesters took care to deal with the provocation by thousands of migrant labourers from Bihar with kid gloves lest he angers the Hindutva lobby.

"The Badal family has little to do with Sikhi; the blue turban is more of a necessary burden for Badal to pursue his politics," they said, adding that Badal wears the proverbial khaki knickers of the RSS and it was clear from all his actions.

The Sikh Youth of America paid rich tributes to Darshan Singh Lohara who was killed in the police firing. It also prayed for the early recovery of all injured Sikhs who became victims of police firing and brutal lathicharge. The SYA also asked those who claim affiliation with the Akali Dal led by Badals to make clear where they stand, and tell the sangat how their party's alliance with the BJP-RSS was justified?

"Can these NRI leaders today educate us as to how and what kind of sewa of Sikhism is this alliance of the SAD and BJP doing? How is this friendship with leaders like Harish Bedi helping the Sikh panth?"

"The SYA understands that those speaking up for the Badal-led Akali Dal in western countries consider a mere photo opportunity with the Badals as their service to the panth. These are pets of the Badals abroad and equally responsibly for damaging the Sikhi. The SYA calls upon the self-respecting Sikhs to make sure that such elements are called before the sangat and idenitified for what they are worth."

"Similarly, the Badal family has also been nurturing some of the renegades from the Sikh movement like Rajinder Mehta, Amarjit Chawla, Bhai Manjit Singh, Gursewak Singh Harpalpur, Nidharrak Singh Brar who are forever ready to sing praises of Prakash Singh Badal since they depend on the crumbs dished out by the Badals," the SYA said.

It appealed to the Sikh sangat to mete out a crushing defeat to the entrenched forces in the upcoming elections to the SGPC so that Akal Takht can be extricated from the clutches of the Badals. Also, the jathedar of Sri Akal Takht must refrain from playing a role of the interest watcher of the Badals and thus sullying the great traditions of Sikhi.
