Sacramento Sikhs to hold World
Interfaith Peace March

As part of the
Tercentenary celebrations of Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh
Community of Sacramento, in collaboration with the Interfaith
Service Bureau, is holding a World Interfaith Peace March on October 11, 2008
in downtown Sacramento.
The 40,000
strong Sikh community which lives in the Greater Sacramento Valley
will be propagating the composite wisdom of Guru Granth Sahib and
highlighting the spirit of harmony and tolerance.
The Religious
Adviser to Gurdwara West Sacramento has extended invitation “to all
concerned and caring citizens to join this World Interfaith.
Peace March,
coinciding with 300th Anniversary of the Sikh Scripture, to affirm
our steadfast belief in peaceful co-existence”
He has also
informed that various officials and representatives from State,
County and City are likely to participate in the march.
March Route and
contact details:
The day’s events begin in
Southside Park (between 6th & 8th Streets at T
Street)
at
10:00 am
with a free breakfast. The march to the Capitol begins at
11:00 am,
stops at the north steps of the Capitol between 1:00 and
2:00
for a recognition ceremony, and returns to
Southside Park for lunch.
