objectionable remarks

DALLAS
(Texas): In remarks that the Sikh community in
America
took strong exception to, an MLA and Parliamentary Secretary of
Prakash Singh Badal, Jagdish Sahni, said extremely objectionable
things about the martyrs of Operation Bluestar. Sahni who was being
interviewed by Radio Rangla Punjab in Dallas distorted historical
facts and sought to blame Sikh iconic leaders and martyrs. The Sikh
Youth of America's Dallas unit activists tried getting across to
Sahni but he avoided conversation.
Finally, when
Bhai Santokh Singh of SYA did establish contact, Sahni was more
interested in avoiding talking. Reacting to Sikh sangat's protests,
radio talk show host Mr Dhillon regretted the turn of events and
asked the Sikh activists to give their point of view. Bhai Santokh
Singh and Surinder Singh Gill then put the record straight and asked
the people to engage with the question of defining a terrorist.
They said the
killers of innocent Sikhs in 1984, of Muslims in 2002, the
destroyers of mosques, the attackers of Christians in Orissa can be
called terrorists. But men like Sahni will sit silent when issues of
humane conduct crop up. They also decided not to allow anyone to
apeak against the panth or gurughar and boycott those who do.
