Journalist Jarnail Singh loses
job
WSN Network
NEW DELHI:
Journalist Jarnail Singh who had flung a shoe at
India's
Home Minister P Chidambaram to protest denial of justice to victims
of 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom has been sacked from service by his
employer, the Dainik Jagran group.
Jarnail Singh was
hailed by the Sikh community and many front ranking voices from
civil society, and his action had forced the Congress to withdraw
party's Lok Sabha tickets from Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar.
The newspaper group
said it has conducted an inhouse inquiry and terminated jarnail
Singh's services after a four month notice period. Jarnail Singh
said he was being punished for speaking up for a cause that should
be dear to all right thinking people. The SGPC has again reiterated
the offer of a job to Jarnail Singh.
