Bay Area Sikhs mark July 4 parade with sewa
WSN Network

Fremont, CA : The Sikhs of Bay Area celebrated Independence Day at Fremont’s July 4th parade in the true spirit of Sikhism, participating in sewa, handling out bottles of cold water to quench thirst and becoming part of the sentiment of freedom for all men and women and rule of law and equality.

Local Sikhs donated 10,000 cold water bottles to those in attendance. Close to 50 volunteers participated in the “seva” or volunteer service. Fremont Gurdwara committee members were also present in the parade and appreciated the work of volunteers. Bhai Satnam Singh Khalsa, Secretary of Gurdwara Sahib said that these volunteers will be honored at Gurdwara Sahib for their exemplary volunteer efforts. Bhai Harjot Singh Khalsa, president of Gurdwara Sahib said Sikhs of the Bay area have been giving away free bottled water for the past couple of years at the parade.
