Nandgarh faces Panth De Gadaar
shouts
WSN Network
Kot
Shamir (Bathinda): In rather curious scenes, the one Jathedar who
was seen till only recently more in tune with the radical Sikh
groups faced slogans that painted him a traitor at a gathering o
those who wanted him to lead them till a few days ago.
Jathedar Balwant
Singh Nandgarh, who had gone back on his support for the programme
to send marjeevre Sikhs to get the Salabatpura dera of controversial
rape and murder-accused Gurmeet Ram Rahim, arrived at a gathering
meant as a thanksgiving function for the release of Sant Baljeet
Singh Daduwal who was arrested after a dera-related clash with
police. But at the Jandalisar gurdwara in Bathinda, he was greeted
with shouts of “Panth de gaddar vaapis jao”.

Sedition charges against 19 Dal
Khalsa activists
Amritsar:
An Indian court in Punjab has framed sedition charges against 19
activists of the Dal Khalsa, including president Harcharanjit Singh
Dhami, for hoisting “Khalistan” flag on the Republic Day. Additional
Sessions Judge Hemant Gopal framed charges against them under
Sections 153-B, 124-A and 336 of the IPC and Sections 27, 54 and 59
of the Arms Act. A case under these sections had been registered
against them at the Islamabad police station here.
All the accused
are out on bail. One of them, Sarbjit Singh Ghuman, who is under
detention in some other case, was brought for hearing from the Nabha
jail. The next date of hearing is July 27.
Dal Khalsa
leader Kanwarpal Singh has said they would move the High Court. He
said no attempt was made to breach any provision of law. “Prior
information had been given about the event,” he added.

Nandgarh is at
pain to explain that he could not have gone with the radicals since
the Akal Takht jathedar directed not to, but the real reasons that
the ruling Akali Dal pressurised is only too well known.
Had Nandgarh not
retracted, he could even have been removed. Later, he narrated the
happenings from the stage. “Call me hero or zero, I was not at fault
as at the meeting with Sikh priests of Amritsar, I had given some
points, to which they disagreed. I left the place. Earlier too, I
had requested them to plan a programme of Marjeevade with views of
all religious leaders, but nobody heeded me.”
He conceded that
the Badals did help him earlier but claimed that he was no more a
party man, a claim that has few believers.
