World Sikh News pushes the boundaries, now in Los Angeles too
WSN Bureau

LOS ANGELES: Having crossed a milestone by completing five years of publication of Amritsar Times, a quality Punjabi weekly newspaper in the United States, the Amritsar Times Media Group has now ensured that its English publication, World Sikh News, already recognized for its highly professional approach and insightful reporting laced with perspective and community interests, is made available in southern California too, particularly Los Angeles.

The Media Group has also set up its sub-office in LA area where S. Jagjit Singh Bains 'Sir Speedy' has been made the incharge. He will be the over all incharge for gathering news and advertisements and looking after distribution related issues.

Amritsar Times Media Group director Jasjeet Singh and Amritsar Times' Editor-in-chief Daljit Singh Sra toured the LA area this week and took up with Sikh community leaders and social forums the issues regarding need for a better quality print and electronic journalism.

S. Jasjeet Singh, in his interactions with community and opinion leaders at Gurdwara Sahib, Riverside and Gurdwara Sahib, Walnut, said the aim behind coming out with Amritsar Times was to create a common platform through a quality journal, and the Group was proud of its success. He said the feedback and response that pours in from all across the US was proof of the fact that the efforts were not in vain.

Daljit Singh Sra stressed the need for younger generation to get engaged with the media while various speakers spoke about extending cooperation in dissemination of news and strengthening the group by way of advertising support. In meetings on October 4 at Riverside and Walnut, the participants included Akwinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Gurkeerat Singh, Gurpreet Singh Shaukar, Joginder Singh Sandhu, Amarjit Singh Dhindsa, Surinder Pal Singh, Jasminder Singh Dhillon, Rachpal Singh Rana, Varinder Singh Dhillon, Ujagar Singh Uppal, Nirmal Singh, Jasmer Singh Randhawa, Kulbir Singh Bhullar, Raminderjit Singh Sekhon, Nachhatar Singh Bhullar, Harwantvir Singh Sahni, Paramjit Singh Nijher, Jagjit Singh Irani, Gurbachan Singh Juneja, Sarabjit Singh and Jagjit Singh Bains apart from Jasjeet Singh and Daljit Singh Sra.

The participants fully appreciated the Amritsar Times Media Group's efforts and ventures and assured of all cooperation.

It is pertinent to note that the Group has proactively moved forward to extend the reach and push the boundaries in Los Angeles, Texas, Seattle and Chicago within days of setting up the World Sikh News' edition at New York even as it marked fifth anniversary of Amritsar Times and fourth year of World Sikh News.
