San Francisco: In an international kirtan competition wherein Gurbani hymns were sung set to designated ragas, the Kirtani jatha of children from Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont bagged two gold medals, thus bringing more glory after they had won two gold ones earlier in the west zone competition.

The Kirtan competition was organised by Hemkunt Foundation in Los Angeles.

From among the university, college and school students, the jatha comprising Amrit kaur Khalsa, Raagni Kaur, Biney Kaur, Raginder Singh and Puneet Kaur Khalsa won a gold medal while Nayan Kaur, Anmol Kaur, Jaskeerat Singh, Harpreet Kaur and GurMehar Singh's jatha also bagged gold.

Jaskeerat Singh, Bibi Puneet Kaur Khalsa and Raginder Singh were especially honored with trophies for tabla and rabab, respectively.

The Hemkunt Foundation also honored music teachers Prof Ranjit Singh of Los Angeles, and Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont's kirtan teachers Prof Dalbir Singh and Bibi Parminder Kaur.
