Stockton Gurdwara echoes with sovereignty talk
WSN Network

STOCKTON: As in previous years, the declaration day of Khalistan was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Stockton gurdwara in this land of the Gadris on May 3. The original day of declaration was April 29, 1986. Bhai Bachitar Singh ji, the well known kathakaar spoke on this occasion while Bhai Parwinder Singh Paaj performed kirtan.

General Secretary of the gurughar, Bhai Joginder Singh, hailed the day and spoke in detail about the Sikh aspirational struggle. His narrative weaved it in the matrix of larger historical movements.

Young Sikh thinker scholar Bhai Prabhsharandeep Singh talked about the sovereign nature of the Sikh quom and underlined how a community which had its own kingdom till 1949 today finds its voice muffled. He said as far as numbers were concerned, there were a crore more Sikhs than the Jews but they did not carry the kind of weight that was the community's due. He traced the history of the loss of Sikh kingdom, the dirty tactics adopted by the Raj, the policy of fanning divisive tendencies, the treatment meted out to Rani Jindan etc.

The scholar minced no words in making it clear that the contemporary Sikh leadership was useless bunch of people with most having a quotable price, and said the only solution was an Azad Hasti, the Sikhs' own homeland.

Bhai Balwinder Pal Singh Khalsa said if the Sikhs want their independent existence, there was no need to go to anyone, or become a victim of the media propaganda. he said our kids are shunning the Punjabi language, what could be our future.

Youth Sikh leader Bhai Gurmel Singh also spoke about an independent nation for the Sikhs. Bhai Sukha Singh recited a poem. A large number of panthic leaders and sangat was present during the celebrations.

Among these were Amrik Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh, mehnga Singh, Bhai Sarabjit Singh, Bhai Gurnam Singh, Isher Singh, Balwinderpal Singh Mithu, Sikh Youth of America's Manjit Singh Stockton, Simran Singh Gurdwara chief sewadar Amarjit Singh Panesar, Sikh Youth leader Gurbhinder Singh Bhinda, Walnut Creek's Gurpreet Singh, Amrik Singh Dhaliwal, Bhai Daljit Singh, Tracy's Bhagdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh janty, Iqbal Singh, Major Singh, Bhupinder Singh Bobby Stockton, Bay Area's well known singer Jas Aulakh and Sikh Youth of America's senior leader Jasjeet Singh and others.
