Mali twist in the tale: So sorry I
met Tytler
WSN Network
AMRITSAR: At a
time when the Sikh community forced the Congress to withdraw Lok
Sabha tickets from killers like Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar,
here comes a twist in the story. Malwinder Singh Mali, former
political secretary to Capt Amarinder Singh, who at one time
remained close to Gurcharan Singh Tohra too, claimed Tytler had
visited Amarinder Singh at Moti Mahal in Patiala.
In fact,
Mali made the
revelations in a dramatic fashion merely 72 hours before the first
phase of polling in Punjab by landing at the Akal Takht and
submitting an apology before Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh for
receiving Jagdish Tytler at
Patiala.
“My conscience
continued to prick for receiving Tytler, due to his alleged
involvement in anti-Sikh violence of November 1984,” said
Mali.
While the
Jathedar lauded him for hearing the voice of conscience and directed
him to offer “kadah prasad” and “ardas” at the
Golden Temple,
there were questions raised about the motive, timing and the
validity of Mali's claims. Mali did not name anyone else who was
aware of this meeting with Tytler while Amarinder Singh said he
hasn't met Tytler in 20 years. Mali was shown the door by Amarinder
nine years back.
