Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time in Punjabi

LUDHIANA:
A science book for the layman, which was first published in 1988 and
became a bestseller selling more than 9 million copies, is now
available in Punjabi thanks to the untiring translation by Gurdit
Singh Kang.
This book featured on the Sunday Times best-seller list for a long
time and explains a range of subjects to the non-specialist reader.
The book simplifies matters by means of illustrations. The first
edition of the book had a foreword by Carl Sagan.
The book has inspired many a mention in popular pop and lyrics for
songs and parodies.
‘Samay Da Sankhep Itihas’ – the Punjabi version of the book was
released at the Punjab Agricultural University by Jagdev Singh
Jassowal, who said that local languages should be used to promote
scientific temperament among the young.
The Vice Chancellor of PAU, Dr. Manjit Singh Kang complimented the
author and elaborated on the need for excellence and the need to
leave a better benchmark for the coming generations.
