Feature on Calendar 2009
WSN Burueau
CALIFORNIA: Sikh sportspersons who have made a mark internationally
have been recognised by the Sikh Foundation by depicting them
through original paintings by young Ludhiana based artist Sukhpreet
Singh. The year 2009 calendar has men and women of varying age
groups who have gained stature for themselves and have brought
laurels for the community they represent.
Sukhpreet Singh’s paintaings range from the legendary Milkha Singh,
to the aspiring Olympic 2008 medalist Manjit Kaur, from the
conquests of the lofty mountains by Capt MS Kohli to the domination
of the cricket fields by Monty Panesar, from the veteran athlete
Fauja Singh to the youthful Avneet Kaur Sidhu and from Kamaljit
Sandhu, the trailblazer first Indian woman to win an international
gold medal in athletics to Bishen Singh Bedi, the master of spin.
All of them along with Balwinder Singh Fidoo, Tara Singh Baraina,
Surjit Singh and Rajbir Kaur have done us all immensely proud.
With an oversized format (15.5” wide and 23.5” high) printed on high
quality art paper, it is perfect for display at home and office.
Alongside the calendar, a date pad has also been prepared. The
calendars are an ideal gift for Sikhs and for those to whom Sikhs
would like to introduce the sporting achievements of Sikhs. It will
also serve as an inspirational tool for young Sikhs, particularly
the sporting kind, tellingly pointing out that it is possible to
excel keeping one’s identity intact. .
Priced comfortably at $12 for bulk orders and $15 for individual
orders, it is an ideal present. It can be booked online at
