Sirsa fraudster not to appear before cops in Bathinda
WSN Network
CHANDIGARH: At a time when the Panthic bodies were waiting to
see how the Sirsa fraudster involved in rape and murder cases
manages to hoodwink the courts which had asked him to appear before
the police in Bathinda, who else but the state government of Punjab
could have helped him? Well, the ruling Akali Dal-BJP dispensation
did not disappoint Gurmit Ram Rahim who has considerable vote bank
clout in Bathinda. The government told the
Punjab and Haryana
High Court that the Sirsa man should be interrogated in Sirsa as
Bathinda appearance may result in a law and order problem.
The government fell back on security agencies reports to
justify its action though experts are clear that the Badals are
trying not to annoy the Sauda sect since its votes will matter when
a family member from the house of Parkash Singh Badal jumps into the
fray for the Bathinda Lok Sabha election, a decision taken by the
family, and hence the family.
Now, Gurmeet Ram Rahim will appear before the Sirsa
Superintendent of Police for investigation on February 7. Earlier,
on January 12, the High Court had directed the Dera chief to appear
for further interrogation at Bathinda on February 7.
Punjab Police have been seeking interrogation of the Dera
chief in the case pertaining to hurting religious sentiments of
Sikhs.
The case against the Dera chief was registered on
May 20, 2007 at
Police Station Kotwali, Bathinda, under sections 295-A and 153-A and
298 of the IPC. Later, the Dera chief had moved the High Court
seeking anticipatory bail.
In this case, on High Court directions, he had to join
investigations before the Sirsa SP also and on November 27 the High
Court directed him to come to Punjab Police Headquarters in
Chandigarh on
December 3 for “interrogation”.
The court direction comes on Punjab government’s application
for modification of the January 12 order, saying that the SSP of
Bathinda had sent various reports with regard to the law and order
situation likely to be disturbed “on account of proposed visit” of
Dera chief.
