Look who's talking! Now, VHP demands
apology
WSN Network
New Delhi: of the
many ways in which to label a community as guilty, one is to seek an
apology for a perceived wrong. India's right wing Hindutva spouting
where Vishwa Hindu Parishad has now demanded an apology from the
Pope saying all seven accused in Orissa police charge-sheet for the
killing of its functionary Lakshmananda Saraswati in Kandhamal were
Christians.
"All accused in the charge sheet are Christians. One of them,
Bijay Kumar Sanaseth is also a priest. So we demand that the Pope
should apologise to Hindu society for this cowardly inhuman act by
Christians," VHP Secretary General Pravin Togadia said.
Shameless Togadia cannot say why all Hindu self-styled
holymen should not be asked to apologise to each and every Sikh
because all those guilty in anti-Sikh genocide were Hindus. Or when
was the last time that the Hindutva forces apologised to the Muslims
for demolition of the Babri mosque?
And when was the last time the VHP leadership checked its
stature vis a vis that of the Pope?
VHP had been claiming that a conspiracy to kill Saraswati was
hatched during church gatherings and meetings for a long while. The
Hindu frontal organisation had also been vehemently denying claims
of Orissa police that Maoists were involved in the killing even when
the Maoists have taken responsibility for the same. In its probe
into the incident, Orissa police's crime branch has sought
permission to conduct brain-mapping and narco analysis of one of the
accused.
A three-month-long riot broke during which the minority
Christian community was attacked rendering around 15,000 people in
Kandhamal homeless with many churches and prayer halls destroyed by
angry mobs. Togadia has not condemned the attacks against Christians
till date.
