Sikh police
accounts investigated

LONDON: Allegations of financial irregularities in the Metropolitan
(Met) Police's Sikh Association are being investigated. The
Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) launched the inquiry
after concerns were raised that members' funds may have been
misused, the BBC reported.
The Met's directorate of professional standards (DPS), which is
responsible for collecting evidence in such cases, said the
association co-operated fully. Accounts, reports and meeting minutes
were handed to the IPCC on Monday.
The BBC reported the IPCC commissioner Nicola Williams as saying
that, "The Metropolitan Police Sikh Association has made allegations
of potentially serious conduct matters that must be investigated. We
will use the services of an experienced accountant to assist our
independent investigators. I will ensure that the investigation is
proportionate and fair to everybody involved."
