murder case
But
Punjab cops' prosecution story is full of gaping holes

PATIALA: There
was no sign of shame and not even a hint of embarrassment when
defence counsel Lakhwinder Singh Kaliraun pointed out that the two
men allegedly involved in the murder of RSS activist Rulda Singh
sport long hair while eyewitnesses had said in immediately issued
statements after the murder that the attackers were clean shaven.
The murder
occured only about a month earlier.
Now, the Special
Investigative Team of Punjab Police has claimed to have cracked the
case with the arrest of Darshan Singh and Jagmohan Singh, both
residents of Bassi Pathana.
Patiala Range
DIG SK Asthana, who heads the SIT, said Parmjit Singh Pamma
masterminded the murder at the behest of Jagtar Singh Tara who was
also involved in the killing of former Chief Minister Beant Singh.
The motive seems
to be the ideological leaning of Rulda Singh which offended the
radicals, Asthana claimed.
The DIG claimed
that Darshan Singh had links with Pamma, now based in the UK.
He claimed that
the SIT has also recovered the car and the revolver used by the
accused in the killing of Rulda Singh. A total of six persons have
been booked so far in the murder case.
