Prof Darshan Singh not to appear at Akal Takht

PHAGAWARA: Akal takht jatehdar Prof Darshan Singh has said he will not be appearing before the Sikh clergy on January 7 when he has been summoned to listen to the punishment after being declared tankhaiya in the ongoing controversy over Dasam Granth. 

Prof Darshan Singh was speaking to reporters in Phagwara when he had gone there to attend a religious congregation in village Palahi. 

He said jathedars of some of the Takhts and the SGPC were serving the interests of the ruling Akali Dal and the clergy was holding its meetings behind closed doors instead of hearing the matter in the presence of the sangat.
