Rise of The Khalsa at Fremont on

Fremont:
Documentry film maker Jagmeet Samundri is in Bay Area with his award
wining film The Rise of Khalsa. The film was screened at Gurudwara
El Sobrante last Saturday. Next screening has been fixed at Gurdwara
Fremont on Wednesday. The film will be shown at other gurdwaras of
California
before he leaves for East Coast NY and Chicago area.
Jagmeet
Samundri is a film director based in Mumbai. He makes ad films,
corporate films and documentary films. He recently did a big
corporate film for Sunlife Insurance. Jagmeet has trained himself as
a director by working as an assistant director in Ajay Devgan’s camp
with his father Veeru Devgan. Born at Village Masoor Pur near
Mukerian, Dist Hoshiarpur,
Punjab,
he did his Masters in Mass Communication from Panjab University
Chandigarh.
The
Rise of Khalsa was selected for screening at Newyork International
film festival at
Los Angeles.
Lots of people from Sikh community as well Americans, Chinese,
Spanish saw this film and were greatly impressed by this piece of
work. Americans who saw the film said Sikhism is a great religion.
This film is produced by Baljeet Mannku. This is a 43 minute
documentary and it took more than 2 years to make this film. This
film depicts the story of Guru Gobind Singh and his fight against
Mughals. Jagmeet's purpose in making this film is to educate the
youth abroad and to promote Sikhism worldwide.
Next project on
which Jagmeet Samundri is working is again on Khalsa Panth but that
film has got a larger canvas than the last film. It will talk more
details about Guru Gobind Singh and will also talk about the unsung
heroes of Khalsa Panth about whom very few people know.
