Devinder Singh Chahal appointed Justice of the Peace in NZ

AUCKLAND: Hoshiarpur-born Davinder Singh Chahal was recently appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Governor-General of New Zealand, the Hon Anand Satyanand. Davinder Singh is a founder member of the Supreme Sikh Council of New Zealand, Member of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, the Ambedkar Sports and Cultural Club, the Auckland Sikh Society and Chairman of the Bhagat Ravidass Sabha.

He is one of the 10,000 justices of the Peace in New Zealand and they principally serve as JPs principally serve as witnesses for documents, such as statutory declarations, wills and insurance claims, although they can also grant search warrants and sometimes assist District Courts in adjudicating minor criminal and traffic charges.
