Tributes paid to martyrs of 1984
at Carteret Gurdwara
Kiranjit Kaur
Carteret:
Marking the 25th anniversary of June 1984 tragic attack on the
Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Sikh Youth of America
organised a panthic conclave of the sangat at Gurdwara Singh Sabha,
Carteret in memory of Shaheed Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala and
Shaheed Bhai Labh Singh. The wife of Shaheed Bhai Labh Singh, Bibi
Devinder Kaur, Dr Amarjit Singh from Washington, Bhai Tarlochan
Singh Ghubaddi's dhadi jatha and SYA president Gurinderjit Singh
Maana specially participated in the conclave.
Gurdwara Sahib's
headgranthi Bhai Jagbir Singh explained how the Indian army attacked
the Sikh religion's and temporal authority's centres and killed
thousands of innocents. Dr Amarjit Singh said the genocide of the
Sikhs was comparable to the holocaust in which Jews were similarly
killed. He said even now, the move continues though in a different
form as Indian establishment was doing nothing to discourage drugs
and narcotics in the same villages from where once fearless Sikh
youth had emerged to fight the Sikh Nation's battles. "Guru Gobind
Singh will ensure that his Khalsa does not remain homeless," he
said.
Bhai Tarlochan
Singh's dhadhi jatha sang a ballad of bravery of those who went down
all guns blazing to safeguard the sanctity of the Sikh religious
places. The SYA honored Bibi Devinder Kaur, Dr Amarjit Singh, Bhai
Tarlochan Singh and Bhai Jagbir Singh.
