Worst comes out now: CBI report
was changed
WSN Network

Tarun
Tejpal, best selling author and prime force behind India's foremost
investigative venture Tehelka, has distilled it to three basic
inferences: a) The false self-image of Indians, particularly Hindus,
ff being a tolerant and non-violent people lies shattered and
exposed; b) Indians need to rubbish the myth that they are a fair
and just society; and, c) we must reject the idea that symbolism is
dead.
Jarnail Singh's
shoe has proved that. At a time when large sections of Indian
electronic and mainstream print media was trying to hide behind
ethics of journalism facade and refusing to see the spirit in
Jarnail Singh's action, Tejpal wrote: "It’s a reminder that
symbolism is still a potent force in public life. Saying the right
thing, doing the right thing, can still be hugely transformative in
ways we seem to have completely forgotten."
Now, new details
are tumbling out. Investogative reports have exposed how CBI sleuths
had built a strong case against Tytler and Sajjan Kumar but their
efforts were thwarted by the bosses and political masters (See page
8-9). Details are emerging about how even judges cried foul at
deliberate misleading of courts by police in 1984 genocide case (See
page 10-11).
Unfortunately,
the Indian media is in a fatigue mode after the shoe-cide. So noise
level is already down. Do not expect much from this media. It did
not make much noise when nearly two lakh farmers committed suicide.
What excites it is a steel magnate's daughter's wedding, not
India's
fall to 128 on Human Development Index.
Let us be clear.
We are not demanding justice. There will never be justice in Sikh
genocide case. People have died waiting for justice. Some have spent
25 years of their life waiting for it. Not just waiting for it, but
seeing others thwarting it, seeing the Indian nation state totally
apathetic. Urban middle class India never skipped a meal, its heart
was not wrenched. The widows of 1984 on the road look like a tamasha
to average Indian.
What we are
trying to do is to underline that
India
gave, gives and seems committed to giving in future impunity to
killers. It applies to 1984. It did to 2002 Gujarat.
