Gudrwaras Coalition to address Sikh
issues
WSN Network
Riverside, CA:
Coalition of Gurdwaras of California and the watchdog agency 'Sikhs
for Preservation of Sikhism and Sikh Heritage' held a meeting at
Gurdwara Riverside to address issues and concerns of Sikh community.
Agenda included an update with regards to communication of
Prof. Pashaura Singh; head Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini Chair of Punjabi
and Sikh Studies at UCR and his desire to meet with the Coalition
members. The members also expressed their aspiration to commemorate
25 years of attack on
Golden Temple by
Indian security forces.
It was resolved that Chancellor Timothy White, who had
earlier declined to investigate charges of fabrication and
falsification against Prof. Singh, should reconsider Sikh demand. If
the demand is not met then a ‘Public Protest’ will be organized on
the UCR campus.
A committee of representatives from Gurdwara Riverside,
Walnut, Santa Ana,
Palm Springs,
Norco, Alhambra, Lankershim, Vermont, and Simi Valley has been
formed to organize a collective program for marking the 25 years of
attack on Sikh shrine.
