Coordination Committee on Diesel
Prices to meet on 4 February
WSN Bureau
We
welcome the latest reduction in diesel prices by rupees two, said
AIMTC president Charan Singh Lohara, but as the price of crude in
the international market is what it was in 2004, therefore there
should be another reduction of rupees six in the price of diesel.
The agitation to press for rights of truckers would continue, he
said.
He also pointed
out that at the National Road Safety Seminar organised yesterday by
the Transport ministry in which the Transport Minister, Mr. T R
Baalu, Transport secretaries and commissioners from all states and
various NGOs and the AIMTC representatives participated, a decision
has been taken to set up
Driver
Training
School in
each state of the country.
He also
pointed out that the first meeting of the coordination committee
formed after the strike would be held at the Delhi-based Transport
Bhavan on 4 February which will be attended by Mr Brahm Dutt,
Secretary Transport, Mr. S K Dash, convenor of the meet, ministers
from various states and representatives of the AIMTC.
