Eight injured in Dera-Sikh clash
WSN Network

LUDHIANA: On the morning of the day when Punjab started to burn with violence following the attack in Vienna, the already strong faultlines had witnessed a bloody clash in Ludhiana with Dera Sirsa followers clashing with activists of Eknoor Khalsa Fauj in Shimlapuri area over a Nam Charcha function that was objected to by the Sikhs.

While police has registered wat is called "cross FIRs" (both parties complaining against each other), Eknoor Khalsa Fauj activists said Dera men attacked them with bricks while they were holding a peaceful demonstration against the ‘anti-Sikh’ activities of the Dera.
Eight men from both sides were injured, some badly.

Police seemed to have taken the complaints casually and even though a clash was expected, only two police constables were sent to handle the situation. When the violence started, they simply vanished from the scene.
