Bhaur opposed Nanakshahi changes, now punished
WSN Network

AMRITSAR: Miffed with its general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur's opposition to the changes in the Nanakshahi Calendar, he has been excluded from preparation and presentation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) budget. This despite the fact that as per the Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1925, the budget is one of the responsibilities of the general secretary.

Now, the SGPC has notified a sub-committee for the 2010-11 budget but Bhaur, a known loyalist of late SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra, was left out.

Clearly, it was a direct consequence of his boycot of the meeting that effected changes in the Nanakshahi Calendar despite strong opposition from panthic forces.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said Bhaur was not a budget expert. Karnail Singh Panjauli had also annoyed SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and Makkar by protesting against the changes in the Nanakshahi Calendar.
