Arrest Sidhu, Joshi and Mayor for
hooliganism at Masjid
WSN Network
Amritsar- The
Khalsa Action Committee today strongly condemned the hooliganism by
the frenzy mob led by BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, city Mayor and
local MLA Anil Joshi at Jama Masjid.
The delegation
of the KAC led by convenor Mohkam Singh, Dal Khalsa spokesperson
Kanwarpal Singh and former minister Manjit Singh Calcutta today
visited Jama Masjid, Hall Bazar to share their grief and solidarity
with Muslim community. The Imam of the masjid Hamid Hussain Qasmi
briefed the delegation about yesterday's incident when the mob under
the nose of BJP leaders and in the presence of administration pelted
stones on the masjid.
When asked why
he has not filed a complaint against them with the police, the Imam
while strongly reacting said, to whom we should file a complaint,
when the SSP and other officers were very much present during the
happenings. He said zulum ki intaaha hai.
It was an act of
sacrilege, said KAC leaders. Attacking at religious place of Muslims
reflects the growing intolerance of ruling elite towards minorities.
Holding the
Punjab
government squarely responsible for inept handling of the situation,
Mr Calcutta said it was the failure of the administration for not
providing security to religious places.
Demanding
immediate arrest of MP Sidhu, MLA Joshi and city Mayor, he said the
state has connived with the mob to terrorize minority.
The delegation
said it was ironic that the mob was led by a turbaned person but at
the same time they said "we don't think he is a genuine Sikh".
The delegation
assured Muslim community that they would stand by them at this hour
of crisis. They said the BJP was hell bent to destroy the social
fabric of the
Punjab
society. They accused Hindutva forces of orchestrating the violent
agitation in the region for gaining political mileage in the
forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Kanwarpal Singh
said, "The BJP was keeping the pot boiling in
Jammu
and elsewhere for their own vested interests. They have flared up
communal passions to derive maximum mileage in the ensuing
elections."
Bhai Mohakm
Singh accused
New Delhi of
giving a free hand to BJP and its offshoot, Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti,
to play havoc with the lives of the people.
Others who
accompanied were Gurjatinderpal Singh Bhikiwind, SGPC secretary
Ragbir Singh, Manmohan Singh Sathiala (SAD 1920), Narien Singh, Bibi
Paramjit Kaur Khalra.
