Punjab bans Hindi book

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has banned a Hindi book "Shri Guru Granth Sahib – Sant Panapdas Ji Ki Wani", written by Sant Panapdas, on the ground that it outrages the religious feelings of Sikhs. A government spokesperson said the book by the UP author contains objectionable material.

"The Punjab government is of the opinion that the matter in the book hurts the religious feelings of the Sikh community and also promotes enmity between different groups of society on grounds of religion, which is an offence under Sections 501, 153-A and 205-A of the Indian Panel Code 1860."
