Celebrating Guru Nanak Birthday
with a difference
WSN Network
MUMBAI:
The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak is the time to visit the
Gurdwara, listen to Kirtan, perform Langar and other Sewa and return
home satisfied at the fulfillment of a family and community duty.
Bhupinder Singh from New Mumbai celebrates it differently. He does
not go to the Gurdwara. He takes the Gurdwara to sections of society
who through quirk of destiny cannot come to the Gurdwara.
This year
Bhupinder Singh took the Gurdwara to the Spastic Society and
celebrated Guru Nanak’s birthday with paraplegic children. He took
everything and every one along -Sikh ladies to do Kirtan and to
prepare Langar. Bhupinder Singh and his
friends
interacted with the children and brought joy to their lives. The
kids had a gala time enjoying the music even though they did not
understand the text.
Some children
with singing talent joined the chorus in whatever way they could.
For the children it was a day out. For the Sikh volunteers a day
well spent in the name of God and in service of humanity in the true
spirit of Guru Nanak.
