Five British Sikhs jailed
for murder
WSN Network
LONDON: Five British Sikhs have been
jailed for a total of 66 years for murdering a Muslim tenant.
A London court jury found landlord Balbir Singh Dhillon and his four
accomplices Amarjit Dhillon, Mohan Singh, Charan Singh and Surinder
Singh guilty of murdering 21-year-old Rizwan Yousaf in his rented
one-room flat in East London in March this year.
All were given life sentences with minimum terms totalling 66 years.
The tenant had moved into his rented accommodation two weeks before
his murder. The jury also heard that Yousaf was far from ideal
tenant as he played loud music and kept a noisy dog.
On the day of the attack, he had locked himself out of his home and
visited Dhillon for a key, upsetting the landlord’s wife with his
aggressive demands.
The court also heard that Yousaf made an emergency call and spoke of
his life in danger after being threatened of eviction by the
landlord. Police visited his home but chose not to record the
threat.
