Summoning Prof Darshan Singh unfortunate, do not divide quom
I
nstead, Akal Takht should be summoning Gurcharanjit Singh Lamba, says ASO
WSN Network

SAN JOSE: In hard-hitting comments, the American Sikh Organization (ASO) has hit out at the coterie that has been trying to guide the affairs at Sri Akal Takht Sahib and said it has reduced the supreme temporal seat to an instrument of the Badals instead of letting it act as the Supreme Court of the Sikhs and the symbol of Sikh temporal authority.

The Organization said the move to summon Prof Darshan Singh, a former Jathedar of the Takht, on December 5, 2009 was part of the activities of such a coterie and was most unfortunate.

Among those who made the remarks were Bhai Devinder Singh, Bhai Surinder Singh Johal, Bhai Didar Singh, Dr. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon of California, Bhai Sukhdev Singh, Bhai Inderpal Singh of Seattle, Bhai Surjit Singh, Bhai Baljinder Pal Singh, Bhai Sat Prakash Singh, Bhai Karnail Singh Salempur, Sukhbir Singh and Charanjit Singh Samra from New York.

The statement issued by them said forget Prof Darshan Singh, no Sikh can utter blasphemies against Guru Gobind Singh ji and the exposition of the principles that Prof Darshan Singh presented before the sangat at Gurdwara Sahib in Rochester is similar to what Jathedar Giani Shavinder Singh ji said at California's Sacramento Gurdwara. They said that the Akal Takht should also summon Gurcharanjit Singh Lamba, the brain behind the conspiracy who is responsible for doctoring the DVDs of Prof Darshan Singh "since the root cause of it all was the Sant-Samaji Lamba."

The American Sikh Organisation has urged Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh taht he would now also summon all those who, for the sake of few measly votes, have murdered the Sikh principles like Prakash Badal who performed havans, his daughter in law Harsimrat who performs pooja of Shivling, Sucha Singh Langah who organised paths of Ramayana, Navjot Sidhu who sported dhoti and tilak during a havan and those who went to meet Radha Soami Beas dera head Gurinder Singh Dhillon or those like Puran Singh who calls Sikh gurus the off spring of Luv and Kush.

"We will send the written complaints," the Organisation statement said.

They also deprecated the fact that the Jathedars of the Takhts were violating their own directives and statements as they had earlier made it clear that no former jathedar would be summoned to the Akal Takht. Also, the Akal Takht had issued a Hukumnaman asking the Sikhs not raise any controversy about the Dasam Granthbut it was on November 13, 2006 that Bhai Harnam Singh Dhumma led a Fateh Diwas in Village Bhai Ka Dayalpura where the Dasam Granth was accorded a status equal to that of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, something wholly unacceptable to the Sikhs.

"Why then was Dhumma not summoned to the Akal Takht?" they asked.

They said the coterie backed by the RSS has made it a point to oppose all panthic issues, be it the concerns about changing nanakshahi Calendar or Sikh Rehat Maryada.

They said the jathedars should keep in mind that large sections of the Panth were with Prof Darshan Singh too and the issue should be handled with utmost sensitivity and in a way that it should ensure that the panthic forces must not be dwindled or divided and instead the interests of the Guru Khalsa should be above all.
