In poll year, Akalis, Cong fling
mud in martyr’s name
WSN Bureau
KHATKAR KALAN:
In the poll year, neither the Akalis nor the Congress were supposed
to do things any different.Every year, they use the function at
Shaheed Bhagat Singh ancestral village to heap allegations and dirt
on each other and this time they did so with a gutso. The memory of
the martyrs is routinely slurred with mudslinging.
Akali Dal
president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal
thought the most appropriate speech will be to blame the Congress
for failing to provide credible infrastructure to the country even
as it ruled the country for 50 years. He said illiteracy and
unemployment were the results of erroneous policies of the
Congress.
A more
simplistic understanding of the issue can only be expected of a
political innocent.
In a statement
that questioned the entire statistical basis for inflation
calculations and intricate economic equations, something that even
his alliance partner and worse enemies of the Congress have not
attempted so far, Sukhbir questioned as to how inflation can touch
zero with 20 per cent rise in prices of essential commodities during
the last three months.
That the rest of
the country is worried about inflation hitting low and triggering
deflation is something that was obviously outside the scope of
Sukhbir’s simple understanding of economics.
Criticising the
SAD-BJP government, PPCC president Mohinder Singh Kaypee and said it
was the Congress, which wiped out terrorism from the state. He said
they will fight the LS elections on the basis of the UPA
government’s achievements at the Centre.
Various
initiatives of UPA, including NREGA, RTI Act, Nuclear Deal, etc,
would be highlighted, Kaypee added.
