WSN Network
Fremont:
In an exhilaratingly religious atmosphere, Gurdwara Fremont Sahib on
March 22 witnessed the bhog of 16 Akhand Paths, as well as the bhog
of Sri Sukhmani Sahib and Japuji Sahib paths. The gurdwara has been
hosting massive religious conclaves in connection with the
tercentenary of the Guru'ta Gaddi Diwas and well known dhadhis,
kathakaars have been participating in these functions.
The Gurughar
also organised a medical camp where more than 500 pieces of
equipment to check blood sugar levels were distributed free of cost.
The medical department of Walgreens checked the cholesterol, blood
sugar levels and
California's
well known Dr Rajeev Ahuja carried out check ups of the visiting
patients.
Not
just the Sikhs but many non-Sikhs also appreciated the efforts being
made by the Fremont Sahib gurdwara to play its rightful role in the
community. Rohin Patel, now a resident of San Jose but originally
hailed from Gujarat in India said years ago, he and his family used
to visit Gurdwara Sis Ganj in Delhi and he has experienced the same
soul-nourishing feeling at the Fremont gurdwara.
Fremont's
Chanderbhan said he was happy to know that Sikhs have so much
respect for the bani of the Bhagats and have given it the status of
Gurbani. Bibi Shivdev Kaur Sandhu said the Fremont gurdwara is
playing its historical role while Khushwinder Singh of San Jose said
the efforts made to weave the society together through Gurbani was a
singularly appreciable step.
Sangat
came from not just Bay Area but also
Bakersfield,
Sacramento, Stockton Tracy etc and the langar saw enthusiasm to do
sewa among the sangat. Well known Punjabi cultural czarina Asha
Sharma recited her nazm on the Bhagats and was hailed with Bole So
Nihal jaikaras.
In the true
spirit of Miri-Piri, Bhai Jaswinder Singh Jandi, a member of the
Supreme Council, discussed with the sangat the current developments
back home in
Punjab
and apprised about his two month visit there. He described how the
ruling politicians like Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal
function through a virtual gang system and how Bhai Ranjit Singh
Kukki has been sent to jail once again. He appealed to the sangat
for financial help of Kukki.
Bhai Harjot
Singh Khalsa, chief sewadar of the Gurughar, said even bigger
programmes are being planned and main among these were programmes
related to Vaisakhi and 25th year observance of the attack on the
Akal Takht by the Indian Army.
Gurughar's
secretary Satnam Singh Khalsa thanked the sangat and said the kind
of programmes being organised by Fremont Sahib gurdwara should
actually be thought of by the so-called Mini Parliament of Sikhs,
the SGPC.
