Sneh Mehtani adds another feather
in her cap
WSN Network
EDISON (NJ):
Popular restaurateur Sneh Mehtani was recently conferred the
International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge – IWEC – award at a
glittering function held at the Harvard Club in NYC. The awards,
organized by IWEC are a joint project initiated by the Chamber of
Commerce of Barcelona in association with the Indian Federation of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI-FLO) and the Manhattan
Chamber of Commerce (MCC).
Mehtani came to
the US
like every other immigrant with dreams to make it big in America.
She started her career with a Diploma in Cosmetology from North
Carolina and an aspiration to make it big. After doing a variety of
interesting jobs, ranging from Airline sales rep, make up artist,
Sneh got the opportunity to open her first restaurant in 1983.
Having operated the Moghul Restaurant for ten years in
Manhattan,
she decided to build more restaurants in
New Jersey.
Her illustrious career was soon dotted with five other gastronomical
heavens.
"My motivation,
my passion, has always been giving strength, giving good to my
community," she says. Mehtani waves a hand in the air, as if that
doesn't capture what she means. "Sometimes I lose the words," she
says.
Three women from
the US
were chosen and Mehtani was the only Asian Indian to receive this
distinction.
