Sikh friends attend Dr. Noel
King memorial service in Santa Cruz

The memorial service for the well-known Sikh scholar, teacher, and
historian Noel Q. King took place in Santa Cruz, California. Dr.
King's family and hundreds of friends joined in prayers for Dr. Noel
King at the First Congregation Church in Santa Cruz. Many Sikhs also
joined the family and friends of Dr. King in prayers. Dr. King
passed away on February 1, 2009 at the age of 87.
Many of Dr.
King's friends and family members shared their fond memories of Dr.
King. They included his wife Laurie King, Church Minister, Janet
Mize, Prof. Trilokinath Pandey, Prof. Terry Burke, Kathleen Eschen-Pipes,
Dr. Tarlochan Singh Nahal, and Gabriel Elkaim (son-in-law of Dr.
King). Dr. Tarlochan Singh Nahal (a student of Dr. King) shared his
memories of Dr. King with the congregation and said the Sikh prayer
in English. Several Sikhs were present to say goodbye to their
friend. Dr. Tarlochan Singh Nahal also put on a display dozens of
rare pictures of Dr. Noel Q. King in the reception hall that he had
taken over the years which was very much appreciated by the King
family and friends
