race
WSN Network
Chandigarh: A few
panthic forums and Akali Dal (1920) have decided to field Ishar
Singh, elder son of late leader, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale,
from the Bathinda parliamentary seat. It is learnt that the SAD
(1920) took the decision after parleys with Damdami Taksal, Dal
Khalsa and Khalsa Action Committee.
A real estate businessman, the 35-year-old Ishar Singh
resides at Jalandhar and his younger brother Inderjit Singh, 28, is
settled in
Canada. The party said after giving his consent, Ishar Singh has
already started canvassing.
The Akali Dal is widely expected to field either Deputy CM
Sukhbir Badal's wife Harsimrat Kaur or Chief Minister Parkash Singh
Badal’s wife Surinder Kaur Badal but is not making the announcement
as it is getting repeatedly jittery about their poll prospects.
Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh is also trying to
get the Congress ticket from Bathinda for his son Raninder Singh.
From Gurdaspur, the SAD (1920) has decided to give the ticket
to Gurinder Singh Bajwa, while there are three names being
considered from Khadoor Sahib: Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwadi, Parminder
Singh Sathiala and Inderjit Singh Zira. From Ferozepur, the party
has zeroed in on Gurdip Singh Rai and from Anandpur Sahib Gurnam
Singh Saini.
The party has also decided to support SAD MP Sukhdev Singh
Libra, who went against the party whip during the UPA trust vote,
even if he contests as an Independent.
