Britain relaxes visa norms
to encourage tourists, students
WSN Network
NEW DELHI: Aimed at encouraging tourists, students and key workers
to the United Kingdom, Britain has simplified its visa application
procedure that will come into effect from October 29. "Those who
wish to apply for UK visas or entry clearances should apply using
the new application forms," the British High Commission said in a
statement here on Monday.
The forms would be available with the High Commission and also its
Deputy High Commissions' visa departments and local visa application
centres and can also be downloaded from the website
www.Ukvisas.Gov.Uk, the statement said.
"We want to encourage tourists, students and key workers to apply
for visas to go to the UK. We have redesigned our visa applications
to make them as straight forward and as simple as possible,"
director of UKvisas Mark Sedwill said. Sedwill added that this would
help "maintain and enhance our position as the destination of choice
for our high-value travellers in what is an increasingly competitive
world".
