Two Sikh Datuks feted
WSN Network

THE Sikh community in Alor Star honoured two members who were conferred state awards with a grand dinner recently.

Dr Minder Singh, a surgeon at the Kedah Medical Centre, and Kedah Sikh Association (KSA) adviser Dr Kaka Singh, who was association president for 14 years, were bestowed the DSPN award which carries the title 'Datuk' by the Sultan of Kedah Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

KSA president Utam Singh Gill said the association was greatly honoured.

"It is rare for two Sikhs to become Datuks in a single award presentation ceremony."
