Father-daughter lose job in Punjab ‘coz they were Muslim
WSN Network

PHAGWARA: This is how stereotyping of Muslim works out at the ground level. In a shocking incident reported by a leading English daily, a laboratory assistant named Mangat Chaudhary lost his job when his daughter's name gave away their religion. Things were fine for Mangat, whose name did not necessarily underline or hide his religion, till his daughter Tasneem joined as a teacher the school in which he worked as a laboratory assistant.

Taunts at the St Soldier Divine Public School Hadiabad became louder when some of the teachers at the school came to know that the father and daughter were Muslims. On Thursday, a harried Mangat, 54 went to Kapurthala SSP Rakesh Aggarwal and said in a written statement that some teachers at St Soldier's were taunting them. And it didn't stop there. They lost their jobs when they told the principal about it. Mangat and Tasneem have also approached the National Commission for Minorities and Punjab State Human Rights Commission.
