Master Tara Singh's 125 birth anniversary falling on June 22 was amrked by the Sikh panth with several low key functions across Punjab and at many other places but the ruling Akali Dal kept its distance and made do with a shoddily drafted advertisement in regional media issued with mugshots of father-son duo of ruling Badals and BJP's Manoranjan Kalia.

In Punjab, Charanjit Singh Atwal, former Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha presided over a function where Master ji's grand daughter Kiranjot Kaur and Education Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur alongwith Avtar Singh Makkar, president of the SGPC also participated.

The family members of people who were close to Master Tara Singh were honoured on the occasion.
