Gurdwara Fremont marks Martyrdom Day with Akhand Paths
WSN Network

FREMONT: Marking the Martyrdom Day of the fifth Sikh Master, Guru Arjan Dev ji, and the 25th anniversary of the martyrs of Indian Army's attack on the Sikh religion's centre in Amritsar, bhog of ten Sri Akhand Path Sahib, 52 Sukhmani Sahibs and five Japuji Sahibs were performed on Sunday at the hall raised in the memory of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Some 538 Sikhs participated in the sewa of Path by registering themselves on the rolls. It was the first such organizing feat where volunteers in such huge numbers did Path Sewa and for three days the sewadars of the Gurughar and the sangat in their hundreds participated.

The atmosphere of religiousity and spirituality was inspiring for the younger generations. The Akhand Path Sahib were begun and concluded in the presence of Sant Baba Hari Singh Randhawe Wale.

Langar was also organized on all the three days where more than 100 tireless workers did sewa. Some 20 odd youth were busy tending to the parking lest any visitor is put to any inconvenience. Many restaurant owners and their families participated in the langar sewa. Among these were Mehfil Restaurant's Satnam Singh Bal, Italian Restaurant's Bhupinder Singh, well known chef Deepak Bharadwaj, Tejpal Singh, Baba Bikkar Singh, Baba Harbant Singh, Baba Shinda Singh, Senior Supreme Council member Nirmal Singh Batth and many other sewadars.

Gurdwara Fremont's president Harjot Singh Khalsa said the bhog of the Akhand Paths were in memory of the martyrs and thanked the sangat for its particpatory spirit.
