Sikh killing in Peshawar
No pressure to convert, pure criminal case says PSGPC

LAHORE: To clear the
air around the killing of a Sikh in Peshawar and to present the
incidents in perspective, Sardar Sham Singh -the president of the
Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandak Committee, former chairman of the
PSGPC –Sardar Bishan Singh and Manmohan Singh –the chairman of the
World Muslim Sikh Federation in a press conference here have said
that the killing of Jaspal Singh was a clear case of kidnapping and
ransom and there is no truth in the stories about forcible
conversion to Islam.
The three leaders
further clarified that the news of the killing of the three Sikhs
was baseless and that only one Sikh –Jaspal Singh had been
murdered. They emphasised that Sikh-Muslim unity was intact and
that the government of Pakistan was taking effective steps to bring
the culprits to book.
Sardar Sham Singh
said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan had assured support to the
family of Jaspal Singh. The Sikh leaders further reiterated that the
Sikh community was grateful to the government of Pakistan,
especially the Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Pakistan, Syed
Asif Hashmi for the announcement of setting up Baba Guru Nanak
International University.
