Harsimrat projection bid outshines celebrations at Takht Sahib
WSN Network

TALWANDI SABO: Petty considerations often mark a big day. The Badal clans efforts to project Sukhbir Singh Badal’s wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal as the next gift to the Sikh community and Punjab virtually overshadowed the Guru-ta Gaddi celebrations at Takht Damdama Sahib.

Harsimrat’s act of planting some saplings and launching her pet Nanhi Chhanv project and the consolidated effort by the House of Sukhbir and the pen of spin masters like Harcharan Bains ensured  that Guruta Gaddi celebrations turned out to be aHarsimrat projection event.

But it had little impact on the outpouring of the religiosity as thousands of devotees gathered to pay obeisance at Takht Damdama Sahib on October 19 and October 20 to mark the 300 years of Guru’ta Gaddi Diwas.

The October 19 Women Conference was reduced to a Harsimrat hossana singing event with SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar in attendance and all efforts of Bathinda MP Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, who has been working hard to make the ‘Istri Sammelan’ a success, turned out to be part of a coordinated plan to underline the importance of the power couple. On the face of it, it was a drive to create awareness about female foeticide. The Punjab government had received a grant of Rs 100 crore from the Union Government for development works in Talwandi Sabo ahead of the celebrations.
