The Bridge Of Harmony
WSN Network

In a strong build up to garner global support for the Kartarpur Sahib corridor between India and Pakistan, TeriSikhi forum and other organisations have given a clarion call for a "The Bridge of Harmony” event at the international border, Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, Punjab on November 7th 2009.

The function will be on the Indian side of the border as well as on the Pakistani side of the border and will be visible and audible to both sides.

Kartarpur Sahib is a sacred place of the Sikhs where the religion's founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last 17 years of his life as a simple peasant after his great four journeys. After the partition of India in 1947, Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara went to the Pakistani side of the border.  For a long time, the Sikh devotees have been longing for a corridor to visit Kartarpur Sahib which is only at a walking distance from the Indian border.

The organizers have named the distance as the Magic Mile, the first mile in the world that people may walk from one side of the border to the other in true sprit of trust and harmony.

TeriSikhi, a non-profit organization, has embarked on a 20-million signature campaign to urge both countries to open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus are signing up a petition to open Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from all around the world.
