Cop on bonnet, gun shots stop
the car
WSN Network
Pune:
A 65-year-old Canadian national living in Pune for last 10 years
tried to run over a traffic cop in broad daylight in Pune and then
drove through Pune Camp with the cop precariously perched on the
bonnet. A senior police official, a DCP, who was passing by,
followed the car and fired six rounds to force the man to stop. The
man, now behind bars, was identified as Kamal Jain.
The cop said he
was trying to put a jammer in a wrongly parked car when a man
emerged from a building, sat in the driver's seat and started
driving. He took the car in reverse in high speed and then drove
away with the cop perched on the bonnet. He steered the car in a
zig-zag manner to shake the cop off the bonnet. On the way he hit
two motorcycles, which left two people injured. The commotion drew a
horde of people with many following the car. A DCP passing by in his
car accompanied by police constable Prashant Mandale spotted the cop
on the bonnet. He put on the police siren and signalled Jain to stop
but had to fire rounds from a revolver but had to be very careful
since he was driving at more than 80 km per hour and that too in a
haphazard manner.
