Ajit Singh Shant exhorts
Diaspora Sikhs to set an example
WSN Network
FREMONT:
Bhai Ajit Singh Shant, the Independent MLA from Nihal Singh Wala
currently on tour of the United States, paid obeisance at Gurdwara
Sahib, Fremont and expressed confidence that the Sikh Diaspora can
make a meaningful intervention in the community affairs. On a visit
to the Bay Area, Shant said the ruling Akali Dal in
Punjab
has moved miles away from the high ideals for which the party once
stood and the Diaspora can help nudge the politics back to a
position of ideals and adherence to ideology.

SYA honors Bhai Khosa
UNION
CITY: Sikh Youth of America has honored Baba Jaswant Singh Khosa
here. At a gathering at the residence of Bhai Jaswinder Singh
Jandi,
Punjab's
MLA Ajit Singh Shant said he was fortunate to be in
America at
such a time and thus could meet Bhai Khosa. |
Narrating the
sorry state of affairs as far as the development issue is concerned,
Bhai Shant exhorted the Diaspora to try and adopt one village each
and said this will turn Punjab into a California.
Shant was highly
critical of the way the Badal family was running the Akali Dal and
Akali polity and said only those with money and muscle power can
find a place in the party.
He
said the Sikhs must ensure that all polity remains under the
tutelage of religion and the Akal Takht remains supreme.
Bhai Jaswinder
Singh Jandi, at whose house Bhai Shant shared the views, said the
MLA's father's contribution to Punjab was very important and the
community hoped no less from Sardar Ajit Singh Shant too. Bhai
Ranjit Singh Kharra thanked the Sikh sangat.
