Hawara's ex-wife released on bail  

SANGRUR: Balwinder Kaur, former wife of Babbar Khalsa International chief Jagtar Singh Hawara, was released on bail from the district jail here on Tuesday evening on orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Balwinder was sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment on July 28 this year by the local fast track court, holding her guilty under various sections of the Explosives Act.

She was arrested on June 19, 2005 near Dhuri along with a large quantity of explosives, including RDX, while riding pillion on a motorcycle. She was then charged with sedition, abetting waging of war against the Government of India, collecting arms and other charges, besides under the Explosives Act, at Dhuri police station. A local court had declared the marriage null and void under ex-parte proceedings.
