Haryana threatens to steal Punjab waters

Chandigarh: CM Parkash Singh Badal has asked PM Dr Manmohan Singh to intervene immediately to prevent the Haryana government from “unlawfully accessing” water from the Bhakra Main Line (BML) for the Hansi-Butana canal. Haryana has threatened to commit such plain robbery and the issue may snowball into a major political crisis between the two states.

Haryana is busy preparing grounds for puncturing the BML to draw water from the canal. Massive digging machinery has been moved to the BML banks.
