FREMONT:
becoming part of the worldwide effort to reach out to the
earthquake-hit Haiti, one of the poorest nations on Earth that has
to contend with the fallout of the natural calamity, the sangat at
Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont rallied together for a fund raiser organized
by the management.
Every penny
collected is to be sent straight to White House,
Washington
DC
that has set up the Clinton-Bush Committee to oversee the rescue,
relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Gurdwara Sahib,
Fremont's general secretary Satnam Singh Khalsa said all donations
made for the purpose shall be accounted for and asked the local Sikh
sangat to open their purse strings for this larger humanitarian
cause. Gurughar's main sewadar Bhai Harjot Singh Khalsa said he had
a special word of thanks for the seniors in the community who have
taken a lead in sewa. He said the management will ensure that all
collected money reaches the needy and will not allow the practice of
applying some cuts as many other relief organizations do.
