listen to what they sang!
WSN Network
AMRITSAR: The
statue of General Sham Singh Attariwala, built more than a year
back, was finally inaugurated by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal
on Sunday. But even in unveiling of a statute of such a general of
the Sikh forces, the Badals did not miss a chance to hurt the Sikh
pride. Parkash Singh Badal invited senior BJP leaders for the
function and sang along as the band played "Sare Jahan Se Achha
Hindustan Hamara" in the background.
Sham Singh
Attariwala made a significant contribution in strengthening the
empire of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and fighting the British Army. Badal
told the audience, clearly depending upon his peculiar sense of
historyy, that Attariwala was doing all this to "preserve the
national spirit." Members of the Attariwala family, including Col
Harinder Singh and Himmat Singh, expressed their satisfaction at the
unveiling of the statue. Sikh masses will not jump with joy when
they come to know that the municipal council, which has built a huge
gate with the statue in the middle at a cost of Rs 4 crore, has
named it "India Gate".
