CHANDIGARH:
Utter paranoia and fear psychosis plagues the Indian police and
administrative system, in case anyone wants to debate and discuss
the gains and losses over the last 60 years of free India. A new
body in the name of Panthic Darbar Manch experienced that this week
when they attempted to hold a meet at a local Gurdwara to discuss,
"India's freedom and the future of Minorities". The leader of the
body, writer activist Baljit Singh Khalsa was first whisked away to
a police station under prevention detention laws by the Chandigarh
police and then sent to prison. The Sangat coming to the Gurdwara
was also threatened with arrest forcing them to stay away.
Panthic leaders
Satnam Singh Paonta Sahib, Rajinder Singh of Shiromani Khalsa
Panchayat, Harpal Singh Cheema of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar),
Kanwar Singh Dhami and Sandeep Singh Canadian have criticized the
move of the Chandigarh administration and have said that "fear
psychosis had gripped the police and they felt that it was a
function to deplore the Punjabi Vigilance Bureau chief, Sumedh Singh
Saini."
